What is Reference check

Reference check is one crucial part of background verification process of an employee. Companies often run a reference check to know more about the employee’s character from another source. This can be about character, or work-related matters, behaviors. Companies sometimes check references from safety point of view. As a part of address and ID verification they want to keep record of the people who know them as well. This is sometimes useful in tracking the employees, if they get engaged in some criminal activities that might cost huge to the company.

Things which need to be verified during a reference check.

1. Does the person whose reference has been provided exists or not?
2. What are credentials of the person who is referring?
3. Can the person who is referring be trusted? His/her identities and social status is checked.
4. How they both know each other?
5. What that person who is referring has to say about the candidate?
6. Does the information provide by both of them match?
